Course Title: Off The Cuff, An Introduction to Prison Education
Have you ever considered teaching in prison? Tired of giving up evenings and weekends for extracurricular activities? Correctional Education is a fascinating field and can offer a new career track for teachers and principals. Explore the rewarding and little-known field of Correctional Education and what it takes to be a prison educator. Learn why educating inmates is important. Learn about the distinctive culture of prison education and providing life-changing opportunities to incarcerated students eager to better themselves.
Offered for 3 quarter credits through Portland State University or The Heritage Institute. You may also take the course for 30 hours of Continuing Education Units through The Heritage Institute.
