Off The Cuff A Course For New Prison Teachers Explore the rewarding and little-known field of Correctional Education and what it takes to be a prison educator.  Learn why educating inmates is important.  Discover the challenges of teaching in prison.  Gain knowledge of related curriculum and methodology.  Learn about providing life-changing opportunities to incarcerated students eager to better themselves and the distinctive culture of prison education.  This course targets new prison teachers or others interested in prison education.  Teachers with a foundation in prison school environments, methodologies, and inmate behaviors are better prepared to address the needs of these students.

College credit:  Off The Cuff is offered for 2 or 3 quarter credits.  Call Northstar for details. Training times and locations:  We offer Off the Cuff regionally every six weeks to facilitate cost sharing among states.   Portland — May, September, January Denver — June, October, February St. Louis — July, November, March Baltimore — August, December, April Cost:  $495 per participant for all three days (minimum 12 participants regionally).  Registration fee includes course book, participant manual, course project materials and does not include travel expenses for participants or college credit fees.  Participants are  responsible for arranging transportation, lodging, meals.    Registered participants will receive detailed directions for meeting location 30 days prior to course commencement.  To register call or click above.
